Hi everyone. I started in ham radio in 1960 with my older brother George. He was my Elmer. George passed away 10-22-04. I owe my success to him. But at 12 years of age it was a lot easier. Equipment is a Yaesu FT-1000MP Mark V Field, Ten-Tec Orion II, and an Icom 706 MK II G, with a LDG AT-7000 antenna tuner. Plus a Tokyo HyPower antenna tuner. Two Amps Q R O Technologies HF-2500DX and a Ameritron AL-80B, M-2 RC2800px rotor turning a Cushcraft X-7 Big Thunder Beam (that’s what Cushcraft calls it) 10, 15, 20, and add on 40 meters up 70 foot. Also a Cushcraft A3WS, 12 & 17 meter beam up 80 foot. And a Alpha Delta 160 – 40 meter inverted “V” and last but not forgotten a “J” pole for 2 meters up 60 foot. And a 2 meter Boomer at 75 Foot. My favorite mode is PSK-31 on 20 meters Running 40 watts is a blast for me with Digipan. Member of SKCC my number is 1579. I hope we can have a QSO someday.
Ham radio is the only fail safe communication system on earth!
73, Oscar
