Sunday September 28th, 2025
The Mississippi Valley Amateur Radio Association was formed in 1990. To celebrate our 35th Anniversary, the MVARA hosted a celebration picnic on Sunday, September 28th, 2025, from 1pm-5pm. The picnic took place at the Weiser Memorial Park Community Building at 1817 County Road 6 in La Crescent, MN.
All current and past MVARA members and their families were invited to attend. Brats, hot dogs and cake was provided by the club, with members providing additional dishes to pass, and their own favorite beverages. We had a very nice turnout and all the food was delicious. Big thanks to Wayne K0WLO for smoking and grilling the brats — yum!
Here is a message from MVARA President Craig Goldbeck, N9ETD:
I want to thank everyone who came out to celebrate our 35th Anniversary today.
We’ve come a long way since the day we started this journey in 1990. You’ve been a part of that journey, which has taken us to places we never thought possible 35 years ago. Thank you all for being a part of bringing MVARA to this level.
One of our members in the past coined a phrase which we haven’t used much lately, but I think it needs to be resurrected, because it embodies the spirit of our group. It’s a philosophy we built our group by.
That philosophy is doing it, “The MVARA way. ”
The definition of that is, doing things in a way that sets us apart from how others have done things. This hasn’t been accomplished by one person, because as the old saying goes, there’s no “I in team.”
It’s my hope that all of you, and others who join our membership in the future, will be willing to continually strive to set MVARA apart.. To help us get to the next level, by doing it, “The MVARA way.”
73,
Craig N9ETD MVARA President
