On April 9, 2026, MVARA setup its Emergency Communications Bus at the La Crescent Montessori & STEM school at 1116 South Oak Street in La Crescent, MN. We setup the school at 12:45pm, with students touring the bus from 1:15pm to 2:15pm.
The weather was very nice and both the students and staff greatly appreciated our visit. There seemed to be a lot of interest in ham radio from the students — some of which even participated in contacts via the local 2 meter repeater. Wayne KØWLO, who led this school visit effort, wanted to especially thank Dan W9FCC, Tom WA9TS, Bill N9FDE and Steve N9SJM for their assistance in making it all possible. Overall, we feel it was a very successful event.
