A big thank you to everyone that helped with Onalaska National Night Out on August 4, 2026. We had a fair amount of foot traffic, a few people seriously interested in ham radio, and one studying already. Onalaska Police Chief Tim Berg was happy to have us back at their event. He came by our setup to personally thank us for attending.

Original Event Information
We’re inviting all local Amateur Radio operators to join MVARA at National Night Out in Onalaska, WI at 5:00 pm, August 4th, at Quincy Street Community Park as we showcase our Emergency Communications Bus and introduce Amateur Radio to the community.
The Onalaska Police Department’s Facebook page lists a full lineup of activities for families, kids, and visitors throughout the evening, including safety demonstrations, community booths, and public‑service displays. Our bus will be part of that lineup, giving people a chance to see real emergency communications in action. https://facebook.com/events/s/national-night-out-2026/1029712339767296/
For Local Hams:
You’re welcome to stop by, visit, operate, and help demonstrate Amateur Radio to the public. This is a great chance to make contacts, answer questions, and show how radio supports emergency response.
For MVARA Members
We’re asking for help with:
– Setup at 3:30 PM
– Representing the club during the event
– Tear down afterward
Your participation helps us make a strong impression and gives visitors a hands‑on look at the value of Amateur Radio.
Thanks for helping us represent the hobby and our club at this year’s National Night Out.

Kelley, KD9LQW
